Nottingham Forest supporters have been quick to marvel in the fact that referee Mike Dean will take charge of their game with Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
The EFL confirmed that he would officiate the game last week but it appeared to go under the radar amongst certain Forest fans until Nottinghamshire Live also reported the news.
Reds supporters have found humour from the fact Dean will referee one of their fixtures but they’ve also been able to point out the flaws in his style.
In particular, they have taken issue with the number of cards the referee from the Wirral shows. In 23 matches this season, Dean has shown 92 yellows, an average of just over four a game. He’s also shown nine red cards.
Dean has also awarded two penalties in a single game in two different matches this season so it’s likely Forest and Villa won’t be short on entertainment when they both meet this week.
